Notion enables users to add alt text to images, helping those with screen readers better understand image content and its meaning. It can also enhance the overall experience of using the website.

To upload an image and add alt text, do the following:

• Type “/” into the text field to bring up commands
• Choose an image and upload
• Select the ellipses icon in the corner of your uploaded image.
• Select alt text.
• When writing alt text, be descriptive yet concise.
• Summarize the essence of the image and focus on its descriptive purpose and context within the content.

Header Hierarchy

Users can add a heading hierarchy to their content to structure their web pages, enhancing screen reader’s usability and accessibility by allowing them to navigate your page easily.

To add headings to your content, do the following:

• Type “/” into the text field to bring up commands
• Select from the heading option H1-4
• There can only be one H1 per page
• H2-4 must be nested one after another; you should not add a smaller header before a larger header
